In Mothers… we Trust

Is there anyone more important in a girls life than her mother?

We learn how to do our hair and makeup from them, get to borrow their vintage clothing and have unconditional love no matter what we do. Therefore it is only fitting that we reward these courageous and loving women with thoughtful gifts on Mother’s day. Yes that’s right, its never too early, or too late, to start thinking ahead and we all know that mum can be a little difficult to buy for as they continue to say things like ‘Please do not get me anything’ or ‘All I want is for you and your sister to get along’.

Here are some of my gift ideas that I think any mother will love.

Take the initiative to drive your mother for a change and cook for her. A night out with the family at a fabulous restaurant that overlooks a gorgeous city line would be just the thing she needs. For those Brisbane beauties I suggest the MtCootha Summit Restaurant & Bar. With spectacular views and a mouth-watering menu, you really cannot go wrong.
Night view of Brisbane from Mt Cootha
Or how about a peaceful lunch out at the breath-taking Montville, overlooking the entire Sunshine Coast. Any number of the cafes and restaurants in Montville are perfect but one of my favourites is The Edge Restaurant. We always take mum here for coffee and it never gets old.

If your mum is like mine then she loves to take time out and relax in the ensuite spa every now and then. To make bath time even more relaxing I suggest:
Soap and Glory Calm one Calm all. It smells beautiful and is silky soft.
Head into Myer and take a look around the entire range from Soap and Glory. Their packaging is cute to boot and you are sure to find something fabulous for mum.

Lush Bath bombs:

These are great fun in the bath. Rose Queen and Tisty Tosty.

And for something a little cosy, a great idea is a scarf from Portmans, Cue or Tree of life.
Pop in and have a look around Portmans. They always have fantastic clothes perfect for mum. I got my mum a scarf from here and she loved it.

A funky scarf from Tree of Life is a great way to bring colour into your mum's wardrobe and to help brighten up the Winter months.

Other gift ideas include:
- a gift certificate to a day spa as she could always use the time to relax and have a break,
- dvds and box sets, my mum loves Packed to the Rafters and The Good Wife
- health and food books, my mum is big of nutrients lately and for Christmas we bought her an Oscar Living Juicer and she absolutely is in love with it so juice books are a great complimentary gift.

Anything you get mum, she will love and appreciate the thought.
It's just nice to say thanks and we love you mum.

Happy Shopping. Xx

What's A Party Without Gifts

The last weekend it was my birthday party and I was so impressed with the bundles of unexpected gifts I received and I thought I would share some with you.

If you have any birthdays coming up then these are fabulous little gift ideas that will put a smile on everyone's face.

I received oodles of bottles of wine, champagne and so many chocolates. Did I mention I love birthdays? This cute little package I got from one guest was a mini bottle of Moet and a mini Glasshouse Fragrance candle. I thought it was such a cute gift idea, plus she personalised it up with a photo of a younger looking us in a gorgeous frame.
This was one of my favourite cards I got. A cute vintage-style card from Typo.

Actually, a lot of the cards I received were from Typo, they have fabulous stuff and I think it adds a lovely personal touch.
A closer look at the mini Glasshouse fragrance candle. The smell is incredible and it is so adorable to have sitting on your bedside table. Plus the fact that it has a lid, locks in the smell and is an easy way to put out the candle after use.
I also was showered with plenty of jewellery (what girl doesn't love jewellery)... so many earrings and a necklace.
This was my favourite present from my family. A beautiful looking necklace with a 'B' on it.

I feel very spoilt and am so lucky to be surrounded by a fabulous bunch of family and friends.

Care for your skin, naturally.

Thank you Botani for a wonderful surprise this morning.
I entered the Botani Face of the Month Competition and although I did not win the major prize I thought it was so thoughtful of Botani to send out these cute little care packages to those that participated.

Botani is a brand that has all the elegance of a high end luxury brand but prides itself in showcasing glamorous products all organic and natural.

What better way to support the health of our future then to switch to brands that are helping the greater good.

Botani is Australian and have a stack of good deeds against their products such as no animal testing, no parabens, no artificial fragrances and colours. Yeap, you will not find any nasty ingredients in any of Botani's products.

Inside the decorated box, amongst the tissue paper I found some samples and a 50g tube of their Olive Hand Cream. I cannot wait to try out these products and let you know how I go.

Take a look around their website and you might even be tempted by their free shipping Australia wide.

Baby Soft Lips

Well Maybelline have done it, creating a cult product reminiscent of the infamous Bonne Belle Lipsmakers.
I am sure almost every beauty obsessed guru has at least two of these in her possession.

The original super cute Baby Lip balms come in a few different variants and I have the Anti-oxidant Berry.

These lip balms are a super easy product to use and gives you soft, smooth lips on the first application. The smell is a tad overwhelming and personally for a lip balm, I don't like it to have a smell.

Maybelline have recently released a new limited edition Baby Lips.

This new edition has an added SPF factor. I am a must with SPF in anything. I am super pale and the sun can really damage my skin if I am not careful.

This new Baby Lips is a cute little addition to the family and it has the same great, bright packaging. It is still a little strong smelling for me but it is just as nourishing as the originals.
For a bargain price at $3.95 you can afford to keep one at work, in the car, in your handbag and on your bedside table.

The results of this lip balm are not too lasting, it is only a balm so you will need to reapply throughout the day. As Winter comes round I find my lips get more chapped and flaky so I will be using this product as a staple over the colder months.

A jump, skip and a Hop to Easter

Happy Easter beauties!
I hope you are all enjoying the short break taking time off to celebrate with your family and fill up on chocolate.

In my family, chocolate seems to get phased out as the kids grow up and we get other small gifts instead. You can certainly be creative if you are gift giving this Easter and perhaps throw in a small Maybelline Baby Lips wrapped up with some fancy eggs.

Here are some alternative treats for Easter:

For a sweet smelling treat try these Glasshouse candles in Vanilla Noir Triple Scented and Apple and Cinnamon Triple Scented.
For the male, give him a fresh chocolate fragrance with Lynx Dark Temptation Body Spray and Eau de Toilette.

For the girls, give them tasty lips with Lush Chocolate Whip Stick and Palmer's Dark Chocolate and Peppermint Lip Butter

And for something really crazy, how about dye your hair a lovely shade of brown, ready for the cooler months, with L'oreal's casting creme gloss.

Whatever it is you may be doing over the break, have a lovely time and remember to spread the Love around.
